Valentin Pinel le Dret is a doctoral fellow of the Institut de Recherche Juridique de la Sorbonne (Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne). He writes his doctoral thesis under the supervision of Prof. Pascal de Vareilles-Sommières. His research is focused on the French and English law of unjust enrichment and restitution.
Valentin holds a Master degree in French General Private Law from the Université de Caen (2014), a Master degree in International, European and Comparative Law from the Libera Università Maria Ss. Assunta of Rome (Erasmus, 2015) and a MA in English and North-American Business Law from the Sorbonne School of Law (2016). He was a visiting researcher at the Institute of European and Comparative Law of the University of Oxford on a fellowship of the French Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Research (2019-2020).
He worked as a lecturer in European Union Law at the Institut Catholique de Lille and in Introduction to French Law at the Sorbonne. He was the research assistant of Emeritus Prof. Geneviève Viney (Sorbonne). He was one of the creators of the Sorbonne Law Review and served as its first editor-in-chief.
Valentin is a research associate at the Max-Planck-Institut für ausländisches und internationales Privatrecht since September 2020.
