Master in Development Studies

IEDES offers a full Master's degree under the national title "Development Studies". The objective of this mention is to prepare for the professions of the development and the international cooperation and professions of the research on the economic and social development of the countries in the so-called South.
The Master is backed by 2 disciplinary domains:
- Law, Economics and Management: 2 courses in initial / continuing education
- Agricultural development and economic policies
- Economic Expertise of Development Policies and Projects (EPOLPRO)
- Human and Social Sciences: 3 courses in initial / continuing education:
- Social development: work, training, health
- Local development: actors, mobilizations and territories
- Crisis: emergency interventions and development actions
And 1 Research course in initial / continuing education:
- Developing societies: political recompositions, mobilities and territories
The "Development Studies" are considered as a specific field of knowledge in the social sciences, by nature interdisciplinary:
1. In the first year (M1), all students follow a multidisciplinary "core curriculum", which constitutes the entire first semester (S1) and one third of the second semester (S2).
2. As of the 2nd semester, a thematic specialization (6 courses) takes place.
3. The choice between "professional" and "research" courses is made at the beginning of the 3rd semester (S3);
4. The 4th semester (S4) is mainly devoted to a professional training period or to the writing of a research dissertation.
