Titre de la thèse en cours : " The effect of digital influencers on destination image formation of travelers"
RESUME EN ANGLAIS/ ENGLISH SUMMARY
One of the most investigated subjects in tourism is destination image, which shows its importance in the industry and its popularity among researchers. However, investing it through the effects of social media and digital marketing is still a field to explore more. One of the main groups of social media users are influencers who can influence other users in certain areas. This study aims to investigate the role of digital influencers (across all social media platforms, such as social networking sites, social networking apps, blogs, forums, etc.) on destination image formation of travelers. It is important to extract different roles of a digital influencer from previous studies to relate them with the components of the destination image. That is one of the main focuses of the current study along with indicating the different aspects of cognitive and affective components of destination image. Therefore it would be so helpful to segment travelers into aging sub-groups for better foresight of future studies and planning.
This study aims to investigate the effect of digital influencers on the destination image formation of travelers in three different age segments; young adulthood, mid-adulthood, and elder-adulthood. Each investigation takes place for the two components of destination image; cognitive and affective. Finally the results would be compared to suggest future research venues and managerial applications.
