To have your healthcare costs in France reimbursed, you must register with student social security and with any mutual insurance company (except if you are European, from Quebec or in certain particular cases) - cf. section “administrative registration”. As regards medical establishments and services, you will find them within the university itself and across the city of Paris.

The interuniversity service for preventative medicine and promotion of health (SIUMPPS)

Located on two sites of the university (Pierre Mendès France and Saint-Charles), the SIUMMPS is made up of five doctors, two psychologists, two nurses and a secretariat. It will see you free or charge for:
► a preventative medical examination: each new student must make an appointment for this examination at, whether spontaneously or upon receipt of an invitation by mail;
► a medical consultation aimed at issuing you with a certificate of non-contraindication to practice university sport (outside of competition) or to communal living;
► a consultation aimed at putting in place the arrangements which you need if you have a disability (this consultation is part of the assistance offered via relais handicap);
► an appointment with a nurse regarding contraception, nutrition, vaccination or any other medical matter;
► a psychological consultation.

The health centres of the city of Paris

More than sixty municipal health centres are spread over the Paris area, guaranteeing care of every kind (general, dental, ophthalmological, gynaecological, physical therapy…) at minimum cost.

Medical-social centres (CMS) also receive patients, in particular 16-25 year olds who can have free consultations on general medicine. More broadly, a directory of health professionals is available on the French health insurance website.
