Charlotte Guenard

Maître de conférences [Sciences économiques]

Charlotte Guénard, doctor of the Institute of Political Studies in Paris in economic demography, is associate professor at the Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University since 1 September 2005.

In the continuation of her thesis entitled « Inequalities in sub-Saharan Africa: analysis of the regional specificity and case studies in Ivory Coast and in Madagascar", defended on 4 November 2003 and supervised by Denis Cogneau (researcher IRD-DIAL) and by Didier Blanchet (INSEE – National Institute for statistics and economic studies), her researches mainly concerned the disparities of income and the poverty in some African countries as well as the role of institutions in the economic development.
She has been more recently working on the internal mobilities and in particular the role of the share capital in these mobilities. She carried her main activities of ground research on the site of demographic surveillance of the Niakhar zone in Senegal within the framework of MOPREAS (Mobilities and economic precariousness in sub-Saharan Africa) research project for which she was responsible. Her primary purpose at present is to study the theme of gender and the role of social standards within the “Gender norms, empowerment and well-being" project of investigation in association with Elisabeth Cudeville (UMR 201 – Development and Societies) and Anne-Sophie Robilliard (UMR 225 - DIAL).

Assistant Director of the IEDES since December 2013, she ensures teachings in Master's degree on impact evaluation, wage disparities, international disparities, statistical and econometric data analysis and facilitates a writing workshop of reports on the situation in Sahel.

She is member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the Autrepart review (IRD / Faculty of Political Sciences Press) since December 2008 and has been member of the CNDSI (French National Council of Development and International Solidarity), within the college of representants of Higher Education and Research from June 2014 to June 2017.
